Apostle Thomas
Founded listed as a part of the 12 disciples in all four gospel, outside of the list of 12 he is mentioned only in John and Acts. Each time he mentioned as with many Christians today he is struggling with his personal identity and faith.
John 11:16 … While preparing to return to Bethany for the funeral of Lazarus, Timothy response was “let us go die with Him (Jesus)”
John 14:5 … “we don’t where you are going”
John 20:24 … Notice what happen when he missed Sunday Night …
John 20:26… Thomas was challenged my Christ to believe.
I. He struggled to see the successful outcome in Christ.
a. In Bethany he could foresee God miracle.
b. He struggled to accept the future of eternity without proof.
c. In the upper-room he could understand the resurrection without sight.
II. He was able to see the outcome, despite his doubts.
a. Lazarus raised from the dead
b. An understanding of heaven & eternity.
c. Saw the resurrected Savior, face to face.
III. He carried the message of FAITH.
a. That day in the upper-room life was changed.
i. He went from a man of doubt to a man of faith.
ii. From seeing the cup half full to full of God compassion.
iii. From seeing a church struggling to learn about Christ, to advancing forward with the Gospel of Christ around the world.
iv. From seeing NO HOPE, to seeing all the HOPE in Christ.
b. Traditions say that he went to India and preached the gospel there, and was martyred there with a spear.
