At the Cross .....
Luke 23 and 24
Introduction:
Within the next few weeks the Jewish religion will participate in “Yom Kippur” This is defined as a day of “ignoring the physical, focus on the spiritual” A day of atonement, Confession, and seeking forgiveness of Sin.
This was a day the an offering was made for sin. The Jewish community are still doing it the old way .... However, my Bible tells me in the Old Testament of foretelling of Christ death in Isaiah 53, and the New Testament tells of the fulfillment in Luke 23.
Yom Kippur is man’s attempt to keeps Gods Law,
the Cross is God’s way of fulfilling God’s Law and Promise’s
I. The Cross is the Sinners place of Payment
A. Remember it is only by the Grace of God, that you don’t go to Calvary.
B. John 3:16 ... For God loved me!
C. Cross is defined as the Cruelest Death every created
D. Cross is symbol of payment (Romans 6:23)
II. The Cross is Christ place of Pain
A. Cross is punishment, but he was innocent
B. Cross is humiliation, but he was God
C. Cross is place of death because he is loving.
III. The Cross is the Saints place of Peace
A. At the Cross he paid a debt he did not owe .... because I owed a debt I could not pay.
B. At the Cross he said “It Is Finished” Greek word “telico”
The battles over … the victory won let’s go home (John 19: 30)
C. At the Cross was the place of escape from Hell.
IV. The Cross is Satan place of Pouching
A. I bet the Devil declared victory, but his defeat was sealed.
B. I bet the devil stood in awe at the ease of winning, but would tremble at what was to come.
GLORY, the story don’t end at the Cross ....
